The two performances presented here were filmed during Basie’s 1968 European Tour and featured sidemen include : Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis, Freddie Green & Marshal Royal with some vocals by Marlena Shaw.
The band also boasted such important arrangers as Quincy Jones, Neal Hefti and Sam Nestico.
There are 13 tracks recorded in Berlin, and 5 in Stockholm. Total Time : 68:25 mins - B&W, Mono.
After Basie’s death in 1984, some of the musicians present here, namely Eric Dixon & Grover Mitchell led the band; and since 2006 the band has been fronted by trombonist Bill Hughes, who is also on these filmed concerts.
