The significance of the events in France of May 1968 rippled out to many parts of the world. Ignited by a handful of students, the unrest spilt over into to the core of French industry and the transport infrastructure, shaking the government into recognizing a general malaise.
This 2CD set aims to put this movement into context by choosing the soundtrack of the time, the music these revolutionaries would have been feeding on, noises from the streets, sounds from the demonstrations and general assemblies, and political speeches, extracts and news reports.
An anarchist’s bible? Not exactly, but an interesting document nonetheless, and containing some great tracks. Also contains a brief written historical account and some biographical information on the musicians.
