• This release from the great ‘Soul Queen of New Orleans’ presents heroriginal 1973 album In Between Tears followed by her re-recording ofthe album in 1993 - both recordings produced & arranged by Jerry‘Swamp Dogg’ Williams, who also played piano.
• The first session also featured guitarists Duane Allman and JimmyJohnson, Spooner Oldham on piano and the Memphis Horns. Some ofDuane Allman’s guitar playing was also mixed into the 1993 session.
• Irma Thomas made her recording debut in 1960; moving to the Minitlabel (working with Allen Toussaint); this then became Imperial (whereshe worked with Jerry Ragavoy); she then went to Chess, recording atMuscle Shoals; before dropping off the music radar in the 70s; and thenmaking a comeback on the Rounder label in the 80s.
• A fine soul singer who always made good records, had some hits in the60s but never got the recognition or record sales she deserved.
